The infection (Disease) spreads from one person to other person by nasal droplets. Leprosy hardly spreads from mangabey monkeys, chimpanzees and nine-banded armadillos to humans by direct contact or droplets. Liability to getting leprosy may be due to some human genes. Antibiotics treat leprosy.

Leprosy also known as Hansen's disease is an infection spread by slow-growing bacteria also called as Mycobacterium leprae. It can affect the skin, eyes,   nerves, and nasal mucosa. Studies designate that leprosy infectious is a two-step process in which a category of genes controls sensitivity to infection per  while different group of genes control the clinical demonstrations of disease

Generally, two types of antibiotics (rifampicin and dapsone) used to treat paucibacillary leprosy, while multibacillary leprosy is manage with the same rifampicin and dapsone and plus with third antibiotic, it is known as clofazimine. Usually, medical professionals used the antibiotics for at least 6 to 12 months or more to completely cure the disease.
